Archive for Avid

Is a Archive backend for Avid Interplay systems. The solution currently has the following modules available:

Base Archive backend for Avid Interplay

Provides a cost effective Avid Archive plugin for Avid Interplay Archive which is able to archive material on any storage that offers filesystem level access (local and/or network drives). This enables you to implement a nearline archive solution with cost effecive IT components in order to offload the material from Avid central storage and taking advantage of the Avid Interplay Archive workflow. The solution is only licensed per amount of worker nodes, providing you complete flexibility with the choice of storage. There are no limits on number of worker nodes that can be added to the system. Each additional node provides higher speed through increased parallelism and increased system availability. The media archive/restore operations are specially tuned in order to achieve maximum throughput when working with Avid shared storage solutions.

3rd party Avid Archive backend plugin

Enables you to take advantage of your existing investment into another 3rd party Avid Archive backend and augumenting the existing system by adding our nearline archive solution.  This option enables our plugin to intelligently manage the incoming archive/restore jobs. The jobs are either handled by our archive backend or simply forwarded to the existing 3rd party backend. In addition the system can be configured that selected archive jobs are performed on both backend simultaneously, providing higher security of important media. The option also provides a plugin for Interplay Access which allows you to manage the archived material on our and the existing archive backend (archive from our backend into exising 3rd party backend, delete from existing 3rd party backend while keeping the material on our backend, deleting material from our backend while keeping it on existing 3rd party backend, restore from exisiting 3rd party backend into our backend). By taking advantage of both backends this option provides an extra level of high availability for your media. If either backend experiences a catastrophic failure or is down for maintenance the media that was archived to both backends is still transparently available to Avid Archive users.
